BiographyWang Duo, who came from Henan province, was a member of a small group of calligraphers from northern China. He served in various governmental roles at the end of the Ming dynasty. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Wang accepted when offered a position in the bureaucracy of the Qing dynasty. As such he was working for a foreign-run government that had overthrown the Chinese-ruled Ming dynasty, in which he had held a high post.
