BiographyWen Jia was the second son of the famous painter and calligrapher Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) and was an accomplished painter and calligrapher in his own right. He lived in Suzhou, a city of great wealth and sophistication that had been the center of the artistic movements of the educated elite since the early Ming dynasty.
