Wu ChangshuoChinese, 1844 - 1927
Wu Changshuo was born in Anji, Zhejiang Province; his family was a
member of Chinas scholar elite and Wu spent much of his early life
attempting to follow that tradition. He failed. In 1912 he settled in
Shanghai where he became a great success as a painter. At the time of
his death in 1927, he was considered Chinas most famous painter.
