Not on viewThe high value accorded baskets by Shokosai III is evidenced by documentation found in the storage box for this work. This basket was sold in the 1929 auction of collections of a daimyo (provincial lord) and a duke. We know from the surviving sales receipt that this basket fetched the extraordinary price of 680 yen—about 100 times the price of a man's wristwatch in those days.
