Abdur Rahman Chughtai
Pakistani, 1894 - 1975
M A Rahman Chughtai. Thanks. I will be sending same in a few days. In the
meantime please correct one very important mistake in your listing. In your
exhibition you listed the works as PROBABLY LAHORE. This is not so. It is
HUNDRED PERCENT LAHORE. I think maybe he made a few postcards in Delhi in
1952, less than 5, and some sketches in Paris in 1936 unsigned and
distributed incognito, but the rest of the work say ten thousand designs
sketches etchings aquatints naqashis paintings and what not, were all made
in LAHORE in his studio at near Pir Makki that is Chughtai Home 281 Ravi
road Lahore-2.The complete address is Chughti Artist Home, Near Pir Makki,
281 Ravi road, Lahore-54000, Pakistan. All his life he worked in his studio
but this one operated from 1938 to 1975. Before that he did all his works at
his ancestral home that is Mohalla Chabuk Swaran, Inside Rang Mahal, Lahore
City. I am very particular about revcords. He loved Lahore so much that
whenever he did sign, he always signed himself as ABDUR RAHMAN CHUGHTAI
LAHORE. Best wishes from Pakistan. We are going to bring our countries
closer to each other through the language of art. ARIF RAHMAN CHUGHTAI
