BiographyA descendant of the Qing royal family, Qi Gong received a fine education in literature, calligraphy, and painting. An accomplished scholar of philology and textual criticism, he has taught at Beijing Teachers University since 1950. He made a name as a connoisseur of painting and calligraphy; a member of the governmentÆs five-person council, he was charged with the task of authenticating and rating national collections.
