More Information
A number of pagodas covered with glazed tiles exist in and around Beijing. Some of them are on the extensive grounds of the Summer Palace. This particular pagoda is hard to identify; it is also unusual in that the stories are of different heights. It probably was built under the Qianlong emperor (reigned 1736–1795), as were many of the buildings seen in this group of photographs.
