On View
Not on viewLee Gapchul’s photographs aim to capture the spirit of Korea’s land, people, and traditions. These works are from his series Conflict and Reaction. He traveled throughout Korea’s outlying areas and documented people connecting with the landscape and engaging in ritual. Lee’s images often focus on shamans, monks, and Buddhist temples. Titled with the location where it was taken, each reveals the contemporary presence of Korea’s deep-rooted spiritual energy: an energy, according to the artist, that stiII emanates from his photographs.
