More InformationHere, well-to-do tourists are taking an elephant ride. The original mounting of the photograph lists the riders' names. One of them is Edwy Rolph Brown of Dallas, who established an oil refinery in 1898, and by the time this photo was taken in 1927 had become director and vice president of Standard Oil of New York. In this photograph Brown is accompanied by his wife and daughter as well as several other American businessmen who seem to have had connections with Standard Oil.
