Not on viewThe kabne is a ceremonial scarf worn on the left shoulder for formal occasions in Bhutan. The color of the scarf indicates one's rank, red denoting the rank of a "red scarf officer" (dasho).
In 1969 the late king of Bhutan appointed eighteen judges, and Paljor Dorji, who donated this scarf to the Asian Art Museum, was one of them. The scarf was a gift from the late king to Paljor Dorji on the occasion of his appointment.
