More Information

This work exemplifies the duration of certain themes of Chinese culture into the twentieth century. It is a depiction of the age-old subject of two like-minded gentleman seeking peace and quiet in a landscape setting. Here two men on red-saddled donkeys are climbing mountains accompanied by a servant boy who carries books and a stringed musical instrument known as a qin. The hats they wear indicate a windy day in spring.
