On View
Not on viewThis vessel displays an irregular, marbled-clay body with a glaze that covers the body and even the footring. The unusual shape with a deep, expansive body was occasionally seen among northern wares of the Song-Jin period. Although marbled clay wares were found at the Tang dynasty site of gongxian, workshops that produced marbled pieces during the Song-Jin or later times have not been found yet. The manufacturing regions for this type of vessel probably included Henan-Hebei.
