More Information
The text they once contained has long vanished, but these wooden manuscript covers still tell a fascinating story. On the inside of the front cover there appear four figures who were likely associated with the promulgation of the text once contained here. Third from the left sits the great monk Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo, the lama who founded the artistic center of Ngor Evam Choden in 1429. His presence here allows us to attribute this manuscript cover to the Sakya order of Tibetan Buddhism. Along with Jambhala, a wealth deity, the stupas on the rear cover serve as auspicious punctuation marks at the end of the text, infusing it with the sacred essence they represent.
