On View
Not on viewThis blue kimono with long sleeves is decorated with pine trees and hawks, dyed and embroidered on plain weave silk. The five brocade crests at the shoulders indicate that this kimono is of the most formal type and would have been used for ceremonies. The subdued blue color was popular in the early twentieth century; it was during this period that the donor, Mrs. Frances Estelle Booth Page, lived in Japan and acquired this robe.
