Shen Zengzhi

A native of Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, Shen Cengzhi earned the highest degree in the imperial exams in 1880 and served in high positions at the Qing dynasty court. A royalist, he withdrew to Shanghai as the dynasty began to fall.
