On View
Not on viewTea practitioners have long prized Raku ware, made by the generational heads of the Raku family in Kyoto, as the best type of tea bowl for its rustic feel and soft touch. The successive Raku masters pinch and carve each bowl by hand and fire them one at a time in a small kiln. The red glaze and black mottling of this work resemble red tea bowls by the ninth-generation head Raku Ryonyu.
