On View
Not on viewThinly crafted, this finely polished bowl is decorated in low relief with eight seated figures. Each figure, under a canopy of acanthus leaves, is seated on a chrysanthemum blossom pedestal rising from acanthus leaves. They bear haloes, carry attributes (symbolic objects), and are festooned with billowing scarves. However, they are not identifiable as either Hindu or Buddhist deities. This is an interesting example of a twentieth-century version of a Hindustan piece.
