On View
Not on viewA young Immortal holding a small single-horned mythical qilin looks up with a happy expression. The qilin is an auspicious beast that and brings good fortune to the household. The Immortal's hair is cut with a fringe in front, a type of hairstyle associated with Liu Hai and other youthful immortals. His face is lively, and the folds on his garment look realistic, as if they are being blown in the wind. He wears a simple robe, and a jade disc dangles from his waist.
The carving on this piece is very fine, due in part to the nature of steatite.
