More Information
In this greenish nephrite carving with white and brown mottling, the two young Immortals who ensure harmony in marriage stand side by side, holding the attributes that make up their names, Hehe erhxian. The Immortal on the left carries two stalks of lotus (he); the blossom appears behind his head, and the leaf rests on his back. His companion carries the circular covered box (he). Hehe erhxian are shown as young boys with the tops of their heads shaven, leaving a fringe of hair around their heads. They are grinning from ear to ear, as befits their mirthful personalities.
