Not on viewCommonly included in burials since earlier times, well models are found less frequently and in more simplified shapes in Tang tombs. Eliminated are the elaborate accessories and decorations commonly attached to Han models; Tang well models generally have four sides, and their shape was sometimes built up with a truncated shaft and four columns vertically framing the four corners. A wide ridge around the bottom and a superstructure for the handle, as seen in this piece, were common (Li 1989: 158).
