More InformationA significant feature of this bell is its inscription-"to the Anguo Temple, on 8 April 1575"-which indicates that it was commissioned for a specific place of worship in Hebei province. The raised bosses around the upper part are meant to imitate the nail heads on a drum, and on the body two applied representations of the Buddha are placed opposite each other separated by inscriptions.
