Not on viewAn attempt to re-create the weave of a wicker basket in a decorative pattern on clay, ceramic "baskets" were a common utensil used for drawing water. Most Tang ceramic baskets in monochrome or polychrome glaze have been found in Henan, Hebei, and Shaanxi. As many as nine three-color glazed baskets have been reported in the excavation of the yaozhou kiln, Shaanxi (WW 1987.3: 27; KGWW 1987.5: 35). The obscure color of the glaze and pinkish bisque differ from most of the Asian Art Museum's three-color glazed wares of Henan manufacture and are, in fact, much closer to the Shaanxi type.
