More InformationThis print depicts a British family, a father, mother, and their two children, enjoying their outing near the shore of Yokohama Bay. The boy is playing an accordion and the girl is blowing a horn. Behind them is a wooden light tower, and, at a distance in the bay, is a British ship flying its national flag. The British were quick to establish their interests in Japan as soon as the port of Yokohama opened in 1859, and they formed the largest national group of foreign residents in Yokohama.
