Basket collector Lloyd Cotsen maintained a friendship with the Kyoto bamboo artist Higashi Takesonosai for more than a quarter century. Thanks to a gift of baskets from Mr. Cotsen, the Asian Art Museum now has the world's largest collection of Higashi's works.
