More Information
This segment of natural bamboo, with branches attached, has been twisted and encouraged into the form of a lobster. Its storage box is inscribed by the painter Kano Tanrei. This small sculpture might have decorated the alcove of a tatami room, perhaps during a sencha (steeped green tea) gathering.
