More Information
Tanabe Chikuunsai I was one of the leading bamboo artists of his day, known for intricate Chinese-style baskets as well as his many original techniques. One such innovation was the use of old bamboo arrows in flower baskets, as seen here. Chikuunsai's descendents are still active as bamboo artists today.
