豊原国周筆 南総里美八犬伝

Biographies of Eight Dogs derived from a complex and fantastic story that recounts the lives of the nine generations of the fictional Satomi samurai clan. The word for dog (inu), possibly symbolic of the samurai virtue of loyalty, is incorporated in the names of all eight families in the clan.
