More Information
Mythical bird-men and -women are among the wondrous creatures that inhabit the Eden-like Himavanta Forest of Buddhist legend, and they are frequently depicted in Siamese sculptures, paintings, and other mediums. Sculptural examples can be seen elsewhere in the collection (see B61B+, 2006.27.23 and 2006.27.24).
