Japanese practitioners of the tea ceremony often incorporate objects from other parts of Asia or elsewhere into their ensembles of tea utensils. This type of Korean porcelain vase from the Joseon dynasty (1392–1910) is considered appropriate for use in Japanese tea ceremonies held on formal occasions such as the New Year.
