“I don’t consider something as Korean separately, but my works happen to be Korean as I am a Korean, and one from a rural area in Chungcheong province. Of course, I can look to the West for materials or techniques. Instead of overemphasizing tradition, if one puts the spirit of traditional art deep inside oneself and brings it out, that is tradition and that is Korean.”
