Not on viewGold lotuses somewhat resembling this one have been found in archeological excavations in central Java, and are thought to date between 1000 and 1200 years ago. It is possible, however, that similar gold lotuses continued to be made in later centuries.
The use of such lotuses is not clear. Several, including this one, have a loop at the back by which the lotus could be suspended over, or attached to, an image of a god. It is also possible that some of them might have been worn by nobles or dancers as part of a headdress.
