More Information
In Bhutan, as elsewhere in the world, fashion is subject to change. This style of pins with heavy chains was popular in the 1960s. The pair of old-fashioned skewer-type pins are soldered to a pair of modern pins shaped like the Buddhist symbol of the wheel of the doctrine; these have two hooks in the back for securing a woman’s garment at the shoulders. Ornamented with turquoise, the finely worked pins are linked by double silver chains attached to a ring.
